SCOOP!!-Subway

 Expected    :  August,2010

Status          : Planned.

60928-subway_logo

INTRODUCTION:

The Subway, this was  one of the most confusing development of the Hyderabad campus,no one was willing to confirm the arrival of the Subway restaurant on campus, nor  denying it .

All we knew was that the director, during one of his “interaction” sessions, told something about a Subway coming on campus, the next academic year(2010 -2011),but no one was willing to take the bait, since most of the things which were promised during that particular interaction session, never materialized.

And the news of the Subway laid burried ,occasionally featuring on the Blog.

But,now it is back,We at the Blog have also been hinting at the strong arrival of the Subway ,and now we can assure you,If the things span out the way they have to,then the Subway will be here, during this academic year itself :)

FIRST PICTURES:

This is where the (planned)Subway will be housed, after this place under goes extensive renovation.

DSC01270

The Location:

The subway,is apparently going to be located next to the old canteen, and adjacent to the Stores room.

Yes,it might look small, but the catch is that the current Subway will be operated on a trial run,and if it is successful then they will be moving into a full fledged premises, with dimensions similar to the Subway located in the IT  bhavan of GITAM University,Vizag.

FULL FLEDGED :

if the response to the Subway is good, then the management, will consider expanding the Subway ,to match the demand, and if the response is lukewarm then the Subway will remain at its current place, and in case of no response to the Subway(highly unlikely!),then they will shut shop :P

CONSEQUENCES:

Definitely not another place to bunk ,since the management of GITAM University Hyderabad,is gearing up to be extra strict with respect to the timings of the Subway,to keep the bunkers at bay.

FLAUNT:

And now,the Hyderabadi gitamites, have something to flaunt around, the only college in the city to house a Subway

PRICE LIST:

The prices of the Subway products will remain on par with the pan-India menu, and No,the management won’t be subsiding the prices :P

MENU:

The menu will be the standard pan-India menu, minus some slow moving products, and some high end products, but expect the regular selling products, thought the plan is to introduce all the items of the standard menu slowly, with the demand, initially only the popular products will be sold.

CONCLUSION:

Surely, not another place to bunk, and Subway’s are usually a little rough on the pocket, but with students  spending close to 1.25 lakh per annum,it wont be that hard either :P

The future of GITAM university,Hyderabad looks bright at the moment .

Not many will prefer the Subway, but surely most of the Hyderabadi gitamites will go over the top and flaunt the Subway like hell, they have something ultra respectable to crow about now :)

So get ready to have some awesome nutritious food :D.

regards,

lifeatgitamhyd

p.s.Recent on campus development,as a person on the Facebook fan page  put it,the “CAGE” system!!

You probably, cant see anything, but open the pic in a new tab and zoom in to see the new grill.

We still dont get it,and we are extremely pissed!

BLOG LASHING-Fire Safety.(Part I)

Right, the last time I did a Blog lashing article,I hardly had any readers,But,now I have a loyal readers base and good ranking and everything.

But,it is no more “I”,but “We”,as the Blog has moved into its custom domain, many things have changed.

The time is ripe to publish, important stuff, which the management will have to look into, and now that people trust us,and our content, they will raise their eyebrows at our coming up Blog lashing articles,or Expose articles, these aren’t your regular sting operations, and there is more truth to these segments brought to you by the lifeatgitamhyd team, and we vow to do it honestly, thought letting a little personal pride to enter ,being rather harsh on the management at times.:P

Tuck, tuck, down with the philosophy ,and lets embrace our feature rich, articles titled  “Blog Lashing”,an introduction to the term Blog lashing can be found in our previous article,Blog Lashing-Deemed Universities.

Note:Do read the disclaimer(at the bottom of the post),before attempting to sue us..:P

FIRE SAFETY:

In the recent times, due to the sudden rise in the number of fire accidents ,their is a sudden rush of concern over the number of buildings which lack basic fire safety norms, and  don't comply with most of the fire safety regulations, forget the regulations, students in most of the educational institutes hardly have the slightest clue over “mock Fire drills” !!

The concern is greater still,in case of the main building of GITAM UNIVERSITY (HYDERABAD),as it is centrally air conditioned and we will deal with this separately in the post which follows, the GITAM UNIVERSITY  main building has to go thought the stringent fire safety norms due to the following reasons:

  • An Educational building.(Generally defined as :A building housing more than 20 students)
  • An High rise building(Generally defined as:More than four floors)
  • A centrally air conditioned building(Irrespective of whether it is used or not.:P)

This ,with the fact(to be proven in this post),that the current Fire safety precautions on campus are pretty poor, puts the students in a high risk zone,in the case of a fire accident.

Note:This blog( lifeatgitamhyd ) is dedicated to GITAM UNIVERSITY (HYDERABAD ),and Hence we are specifically pointing out to the flaws on campus,But do make a note that most of the educational buildings out here(In Hyderabad),have the same problems.

And here we are, The team of lifeatgitamhyd has finally complied a report on the fire safety on campus, though we don’t have access to the building plan of GITAM University Hyderabad, nor do we have the means to measure the width of staircase etc,we would like to provide ,and point out basic flaws which are evident on campus, like :

  • Inadequate number of fire extinguishers
  • No mock fire drills in One Academic year!!
  • Lack of fire safety equipment.

THE REFERENCES:

The NCB,the National Code of buildings,in its 2005 publication, lays down the required norms for Fire and Safety precautions,a copy has been used by this Blog,(though we hardly understood the jargon,in our humble capacity) ,and we have used the Delhi Fire services Buildings bye laws for fire safety, which deals specifically with the fire safety,We have also made use of the The Karnataka Fire Force Rules, 1971; and the Karnataka Fire Force Regulations, 1971,and we have had the AP Fire services Act  regulations for reference, most of the Acts mentioned above are heavily based on NCB,and hence they are to be strictly adhered too  all over the nation, thought some exceptions are made based on the geographical conditions.

The information derived from The Karnataka Fire Force Rules, 1971; and the Karnataka Fire Force Regulations, 1971is based on the understanding that the  information has been obtained from the office of the Karnataka State Fire and Emergency Services, Bangalore, and has been compiled from the National Building Code (NBC), 2005,By www.Citizenmatters.in .

The list of articles and sources follow at the end of this post.

THE PROCEDURE:

We will start  dealing with each and not necessarily every sub clause listed in the Delhi Fire services Act,and point out the flaws in the GITAM  University Hyderabad campus, main building, with pictures, when ever we can.

Note:The Delhi Fire safety act,is assumed by the team,to be a good benchmark for the Main building, even thought it exists in Andhra Pradesh. And we are under the impression that, most of the laws will be the same, after all safety is safety, come what may !

On the similar lines, the Karnataka Act,AP fire services Act follow.

The status of the main building, location of fire extinguishers(etc) is according to 04/05/2010,and the situation might have changed by now.

THE BUILDING:

The main building of GITAM University Hyderabad, consists of a total of  9 floors including the cellar,When fully built.

An outdated image follows, with only 4 floors visible, while the 5th and 6th have already been commenced, and close to completion,we don't have the pictures on hand(to be updated)

DSC006246

THE CELLAR:

The cellar which plays host to the Library and the computer labs, does not contain any visible fire extinguishers, the cellar consists of about 300 odd computers(C lab,Auto-Cad lab,Digital Library,MBA Lab,English Lab),with none of the labs having a fire extinguisher, the cellar like the whole building is centrally air conditioned  and a simple short circuit, either in the computers or in the servers ,can’t be averted, the nearest known Fire extinguisher is located in the Workshop/Store room.Which takes a normal students about 8 mins to travel to and fro,in a hurry,We possibly don’t have a Usain bolt,on campus .:P

Short circuits,in Computer labs,in various educational institutions and companies have been reported, and it has been a practice to have fire extinguishers on hand, but none of the five labs mentioned above have a visible fire extinguisher.

Not to forget the library, which is also located here and is void of visible fire extinguishes.

According to the clause,14.12 Basement of the Delhi fire services act(Henceforth referred to as “ the Act” )

14.12.2 The basement shall have the following requirements:

“   (iv).Adequate arrangement shall be made such that surface drainage does not enter the basement.

(v).The walls and floors of the basement shall be water-tight and be so designed that the effect of the surrounding soil and moisture, if any, are taken into account in design and adequate damp proofing treatment is given.

(vi). The access to the basement shall be separate from the main and alternate stair-case providing access and exit from higher floors. Where the staircase is continuous the same shall be enclosed type serving as a fire separation from the basement floor and higher floors. Open ramps shall be permitted if they are constructed within the building line subject to the provision of (iv).

”(italics added)

The following pictures will prove that this particular clause has been violated,

water_leakage

Image01417_thumb

This leakage was record on the 15th,April,2010.

For the full article,click here.

During the first semester, water leakage into the basement/cellar was very prominent, and there were cases of water leakage  in the Labs, causing  minor flooding of the labs, but most of these major leakage problems have been dealt with after the first semester.A brownie point to the management, but the above pictures prove that the work is still incomplete, and it clearly violates clause 14.12.2 (iv),(vi),of The Act.

FLAWS:

  • Lack of fire extinguishers.
  • Surface drain enters basement,probably violates,  14.12.2.,(iv),(v).
  • Only one staircase,probably violates,14.12.2. (vi).

THE FLOORS:

This segment in general deals with the irregularities of all the floors of the building, excluding the cellar which has been covered above.

The floors clearly lack visible(Come on,fire extinguishers tucked away in the directors room,or safely packed off in some nook of the main building aren’t function !!),as in functional fire extinguishers.

Let me quote section,16. Exit Requirements of the Act.

16.1 General - The following general requirements shall apply to exits.

e.Exits shall be clearly visible and the routes to reach the exit shall be clearly marked and sign posted to guide the population of floor concerned;

f.All exit ways shall be properly illuminated;

g.Fire fighting equipment where provided along exits shall be suitably located clearly marked but must not obstruct the exit way and yet there should beck indication about its location from either side of the exit way;

h.Alarm devices shall be installed to ensure prompt evacuation of the population concerned through the exits;

According to 16.1 (e), “the exits should be clearly visible, and the exit shall  be clearly marked…….concerned “

Each floor has two exits, like the two visible in the following picture, and one is the central staircase, thought all the exits are clearly visible, according to the above clause, they need to be “clearly marked and sign posted”,which they aren’t.

clicked from the second exit.

Those who think,we don't need signs(as we aren’t that blind ),think again in case of a fire, you can hardly see anything, and instead of thinking about finding the exits through the smoke, you can follow the signs help!!

The floors ,don't have an alarm system, trust us, we have never come across anything  which looks like a warning bell, forget a fire alarm !

So,this  violates  sub clause (h),which screams for the installation of alarm devices, which are currently non-existent !

though,it is worth noting that the following clause is strictly enforced ,

16.3.4 For building identified in Bye-law No. 6.2.4.1(high rise buildings), there shall be a minimum of two staircase and one of them shall be an enclosed stairway and the other shall be on the external walls of buildings and shall open directly to the exterior, interior open space or to any open place of safety.(spell check, content in braces added).

EXTERNAL STAIRCASE/FIRE ESCAPES:

We are dealing with a building of 9 floors, which has 3 staircases for the general use, and  No LIFT/Elevator has been installed, just yet.

Usually,a commercial building of five floors(high rise buildings to be precise),is supposed to have separate fire escapes/staircases.

The building we are dealing with is definitely not a commercial building, but due to its high rise status(9 floors!),it ought to have fire escapes too, here the clause 16.4.2 of The Act follows:

16.4.2 Fire Escapes or External Stairs

  • Fire escapes shall not be taken into account in calculating the evacuation time of a building.

  • All fire escapes shall be directly connected to the ground.

  • Entrance to fire escape shall be separate and remote from the internal staircase.

  • The route to fire escape shall be free of obstructions at all times, except a doorway leading to the fire escape which shall have the required fire resistance.

  • Fire escape shall be constructed of non-combustible materials.

  • Fire escapes stairs shall have straight flight not less than 75cm wide with 25 cm treads and risers not more than 19 cm. The number of risers shall be limited to 16 per flight.

  • Handrails shall be of a height not less than 90cm.

No point in discussing the violation of these guidelines,as the fire escapes are non existent, like the alarm system .:P

    LIFTS/ELEVATORS:

The following statements, will look like a piece out of the  popular AXN show,Ripley’s believe it or not!

But,believe us,there are close to 9 odd floors and yet the management shows no signs of putting up lifts/Elevators in place, thought they will have to once the top floors become operational, but for the case of factual representation of the main buildings violation of safety norms, lets pull up article ,16.4.9 Lifts

    1. All the floors shall be accessible for 24 hours by the lifts. The lifts provided in the buildings shall not be considered as a means of escape in case of emergency.

    2. Grounding switch at ground floor level to enable the fire service to ground the lift in case of an emergency shall also be provided.

    3. The lift machine room shall be separate and no other machinery shall be installed there in.

The sub clause (1),explicitly states that all floors shall be accessible for 24hrs by the lifts.

Accepted that, the 4th,5th,6th floor, are not in use just yet,but come on,even during the academic year of 2009-2010,Half way through the academic year, the building crossed the 15m mark, and the lifts have not yet been up.

    Clause 17 Fire Protection Requirements:

This particular clause is a bit  above our league,to understand it without the official building blue print / construction plan,So we will have to work our way through assumptions(Which will be as realistic as possible).

Look at the picture below and if you still think that a Fire engine can work its way thought to save the ass (read Rear/Back),of the main building you either gotta be insane or obliviously assume the driver of the engine to be insane,As we see it,there is no way a Fire engine can squeeze in through it,even though it will gain partial access through the temporary construction zone-parking area, which is given below,paz5513

Note:New visitors don’t worry,Google maps didn't update the Rudraram village database for a long time, hence these old snapshots are used, there are good roads leading to the campus :)

We see no feasible way the fire engine will make any further ingress to get closer to the main building's back.

Can a Fire engine move in ?

    AN ASSUMPTION:

To make our concern much more, clear  we will pull up a hypothetical situation, and assume fire at point 4.

The only feasible way to control the fire is rush in a fire engine through 3(The temporary construction zone),via the given points 1 and 2(in red).

    paz56_thumb9_mod

    point two

But once the Fire engine comes to point 3,there is no way it can directly access the place in question.

point 3 gives a deadlock to the Fire engine, and the efficiently with which a fire can be controlled is greatly reduced.   point three-deadlock  Asummed fire, point Four

  •

    POSSIBILITY:

Come on,We are not expecting a fire accident or something like that,we mean no ill,but then why are fire safety norms in place for ?

To be prepared for the worst, and that is what we are trying to project here .

And hence,we conclude that the current space between the the compound wall and the main building kills the efficiency of the fire fighting personnel,in case of a fire.

But,a point to be noted is that,if and when the campus does expand to 45 acres(as they keep telling us!),this will be sorted, out but we can never rule out the possibility of a fire accident in the meantime, can we ?

    AN END:

We are coming closer to the close of The Act,and its implications, and apparent violations in the main building of GITAM UNIVERSITY HYDERBAD CAMPUS.

And we will wind up this session with this last segment here and cover the Karnataka  act,in the consequent post, and deal with the other elements, and possibly look at the above once again and deduce more flaws in the building and its consequences.

While a  third possible post with all the general flaws, irregularities , will conclude this three post blog lashing article.

The Clause 17 Fire Protection Requirements, has an appendix K,and we will be dealing with tit in this section of the post.

    APPENDIX K (Bye-Law No. 17.1)

Additional Fire Protection Requirements for Buildings more than 15m. in Height & Buildings as Covered by Bye-law No. 6.2.4.1,which refers to high rise buildings including and not entirely restricted to Institutional  buildings,as our review is restricted to the institutional building lets cut this para short for the sake of convince, but the actual clause is added too for reference, thought you might not understand it,you don’t necessarily have to read,

“6.2.4.1 Building Plans for Multi-storeyed / Special Buildings-For multi-storeyed buildings which are more than 15 m height and for special buildings like assembly, institutional, industrial, storage and hazardous occupancies,….”

The human readable summary of the above clause follows “GITAM UNIVERSITY’s main building  falls into the above clause and hence is subject to appendix K” ..:P

    AND ONCE AGAIN…

We make a move into the appendix K:

K-9 Provision of First Aid Fire Fighting Appliances

K-9.1 The first aid fire fighting equipments shall be provided on all floor including basements, occupied terrace, lift rooms in accordance with IS : 2217-1982 Recommendations for providing First Aid Fire Fighting Arrangements in Public Buildings in consultation with the Chief Fire Officer.

K-9.2 The fire fighting appliances shall be distributed over the building in accordance with IS 2190 Code of Practice for selection, installation and maintenance of portable first aid fire appliances “

IMPLICATION/VIOLATION(S) ON PART OF GITAM UNIVERSITY HYDERABAD(main building) :

  • (IN ACCORDANCE WITH “The Act”)

None of the above mentioned provisions are made available on any of the floors of the main building,If,the management of GITAM UNIVERSITY HYDERABAD,claims the above mentioned equipment to be available as on 04/05/2010,Then we  would call them a bunch of liars and put their pants on fire(no offence intended :P),lets get serious,If the management claims(Wrongly!!!) the above first aid on all the floors, then they are not placed in  functional, accessible  places,to be conveniently  used in case of an emergency.

And we can prove their claims(if any w.r.t,the above statement) to be wrong too, cause, none of the students will claim to have seen a first aid box or any of the above mentioned equipment in the main building on any of the floors, and if the students don’t spot it,then obviously the management can’t claim the first aid kits to be existent.

    But the truth is :

They don't exist on any of the floors,They might be in the ground floor(We are in a dilemma over this particular floor,as it houses the administration rooms, and First batch classrooms what not!,Hence we are not taking a risk by claiming it to have none or any  of the above mentioned equipment )

Now we are winding up this session by quoting one last source, according to www.MumbaiMirror.com, a random layman checklist includes,

    Checklist for school buildings
Sufficient open space around the school building
    Well-maintained, wide staircases
Easily covered distance from the classroom to the staircase
    Wide common passage
Sufficient and easily accessible fire extinguishers
In case of AC schools, sufficient and well-placed smoke detectors and sprinklers “

  • Assuming School, to imply Educational institutions,we conclude that the last two points(Which form the basic core of Fire safety ),are heavily violated by the main building .

Smoke Detectors/Sprinkles are like the fire extinguishers non existent in a centrally air conditioned building of about 9 floors.

    CONCLUSION:

The curtains fall on this post, and the conclusion is here, according to the above post we can conveniently assume in a jovial sense, that in case of a major fire accident ,we will have a new graveyard in Rudraram :)

On a serious note now,the main building according to our understanding and the preliminary review(with our extra crude methods) carried out by this group of students from GITAM UNIVERSITY HYDERBAD,We conclude the following, the main building hardly complies with the norms required.

Accepted, that most of the buildings, educational institutions out there(in Hyderabad),don't comply, wit the above norms, this building may be better off than some of the buildings,But they are norms to be followed and adhered too.

Others choose to make a fuss out of it,once a disaster happens,we choose to make a fuss out of it before the disaster happens, whether it occurs or not, hardly matters ,Studying and virtually living in a building which complies with fire safety norms is our right.

    SCOOP!!-ATM(s).

  • EXPECTED ON       :    June,2010

  • STATUS                       :  Structure done-brick work pending

  • DEADLOCK               :  None

    INTRODUCTION:

The management has finally woken up from its slumber ,to realise that the nearest bank/ATM from the GITAM UNIVERSITY HYDERABD CAMPUS  is about 6 km away, nicely tucked away in the industrial hub of Isnapur(6 km from Rudraram).

Even thought the Buzzing Bee which usually gives us tip offs about the campus development, has been sleepy for quite some time,it hasn't been inactive,it just reported this development two days back, and we are ready with the article and pics.:)(Trust me,everything is good, except the Hostel review,I wonder why it is taking such a fucking long time!!)

So the busy Bee is here, and the bee is quite sure as it has always been that the ATM’s will be up and about before the start of the next semester,we are under the impression that the Faculty will be given initial access to the ATMs on a pilot basis,in the following month,so that the ATM’s can be used by the students in the next semester.

    THE FIRST PICS:

Initially getting pics has been a cumbersome task, but as the students of GITAM UNIVERSITY HYDERABD CAMPUS,started trusting us, we are better off on our pic reserves and we are able to update our gallery ,with the current developments on campus.

    DSC01016

The ATM’s will be located next to the Main building, and are easily accessible.

BUNKERS NOTE:A couple of students dropped by at our gmail account to tell us they would love to bunk in the ATM.

So all the back benchers, bunkers etc, please note, that a dedicated security guard will be in place right outside the ATM to see that no one misuses the ATM ala,use it for bunking,or messing around with the vending machines.

    DSC01025 DSC01015  DSC01018

    THE BANKS:

It won’t be all that hard to guess which bank will be setting up the ATM,the current list of probable banks are ,

    • UNION BANK
    • STATE BANK OF INDIA
    • INDIAN BANK

    UNION BANK:

    UBI

The GITAM UNIVERSITY,Vizag campus has an on campus branch of Union bank, and that implies the association of GITAM UNIVERSITY  with Union bank, may well be carried over to the Hyderabad campus too.

    DEADLOCK:

Well,if Union Bank does come up on the soil of GITAM UNIVERSITY HYDERABAD,we have a major problem on hand. The nearest UNION BANK Branch is located some 15-20 odd Km’s away, and this in itself is a major hurdle to transport the money to the ATM’s machines.

and Hence ,we can’t help but expect Union Bank, not to to set up the ATM.

    STATE BANK OF INDIA:

The most popular Indian Bank, and the most loved one too(Don't read more than you have to into this statement, cause it is according to me..!)

And the fact that,SBI has a branch located in Isnapur(6km from GITAM UNIVERSITY HYDERABAD),makes things much more sweeter.

The Major flaw of going in with Union Bank,is the distance, and this flaw is not visible in the case of SBI.

    SBI

    INDIAN BANK:

Why am I even considering this option ?

Well,if you remember Kibbutz’10(The first fest of GITAM UNIVERSITY HYDERABAD,I keep repeating it for the  convenience of the New readers, who possible have no clue over Kibbutz’10) ,Indian Bank, agreed to sponsor the fest ,and it also set up a Stall on campus ,The answer to  if  the bank is regretting it or not,is for the bank to decide..:P

    Indian Bank

So for all those optimist ppl,who might have the slightest expectation that it may be Indian bank,The Blog may be wrong, let me clear it,the Blog has been wrong on quite some occasions, but this is not once such, and the probability of Indian Bank setting up an ATM is extremely minute, nevertheless possible..:)

    My Pick:

    • SBI
    • Union Bank
    • Indian Bank

And ,this list isn't exhaustive, and we had to work our way through the administration to get hold of this info, and you never know the Bank, which may pull up the ATM may not have figured in this list..:)

    Regards,

    lifeatgitamhyd

    UPDATE ON 6th 2010 :

The bank has been confirmed, Indian Bank wins it out,and We were under the impression,it will have the least probability to win the bid.

    DSC01071

Apparently this whole structure will be housing the mini Bank, and the ground floor will be housing the ATM machines.

The New Home:A Personal Message 5000 hits-JUNK POST.

NOTE: THE FOLLOWING IS A JUNK POST,please move over to,GITAM UNIVERSITY, HYDERABAD CAMPUS

    REAR VIEW:

The major reason behind the formation of this Blog, has been the inability of the management to invest on a good Website for the GITAM UNIVERSITY HYDERABAD CAMPUS,and this is where we all could capitalize, and this is where it all started.

    THE FIRST SEMESTER:

Initially, the GITAM UNIVERSITY HYDERABAD campus, was essentially absent from the world wide wed scenario, and  everyone including the management turned a blind eye to this major flaw.

The first semester passed through with a little online presence on Orkut via a strong number of ; but not all that interactive members,But in recent times, the activity has been quite high on the Orkut community too, which is a welcome sign.

But,there wasn’t any thing to GITAM UNIVERSITY HYDERABAD,beyond that.

    SECOND SEEMSTER:

The second semester was when the Blog, was born  virtually on the 04th of December,2009.

When a best friend of mine celebrated his birthday, and this was to be my gift, for 6 Months,I gave him my word, I would work towards making up an online journal for GITAM UNIVERSITY HYDERABAD,which would work on the tried and tested(and extremely time consuming) model of contributions.

And on 08th,December,the Blog made its physical appearance on the  internet world, working as an anonymous Blog, with just two contributors, who actually wrote the initial blog posts from their point of view.

    TWO MONTHS LATER:

Close to two months later,in February,2010,the Blog started to make its presence felt, backed by some seriously good posts, and lots of consistency which were a  virtual reflection of the happenings on campus,We evolved with a strong readership and people warming up to the Idea of contributing to this blog, made things better.

The students of GITAM UNIVERSITY HYDERABAD CAMPUS,were mostly reluctant to move from their comfy lifestyles, they were reluctant to share their information, their daily experiences with US,But slowly they started liking it,Slowly they realized that the management was taking note  of this Blog too..

    THE BLOCKADE:

The blockade, due to two back to back Blog posts which contained “Bear ” in them during the month of march, the Blog was blocked on campus,GITAM UNIVERSITY HYDERABAD.

    1.http://www.lifeatgitamhyd.com/2010/03/samardhapinkbearfestmidsday02032010.html

    2.http://www.lifeatgitamhyd.com/2010/03/bearfestmidsday04032010.html

We didn’t feel the punch initially cause we came up with our WordPress Lite version, till the grades/marks of top contributors and especially those who had noting to do with this Blog started taking a beating right from OOPS to PHY,for ECE to be specific.(And I apologize for it,yet again!)

    THE KALYAN CRSIS:

Then, once we moved on,we met the moment of peril of this Blog, the Kalyan crisis I refer to this term once again, the only other time being the parting of Krishna, and it was the only moment,This blogs existence  felt threatened, and Krishna stepped out of his comfy life in Vizag(He was in Hyd during the crisis),and put up a brave face and supported this Blog.

I owe the transformation of the Blog into this custom domain to him,actually..:)

    AND THEN..

And then came the turning of the colour tables,White to Black ; black to white, the change in the template was widely appreciated(And I actually had to endure that a lot,I was totally against the change in template..!!)

It brought with itself, the message of more changes which would eventually come up in the Blog and last night all those changes were nearly done..!

    THE NEW DAWN:

I specifically owe this quote “The Rise of the new Dawn”,to R.Giskard,a marvellous creation of Dr.Han Fastolfe ,who was a creation of the sci-fi god,Sir Isaac Asimov.

And I make no attempts to claim it my own.

But,this post will mark the rise of the new dawn,of GITAM UNIVERSITY HYDERABAD CAMPUS,on the Internet scenario.

And we would love make this the de facto students communication portal, capturing the essence of GITAM UNIVERSITY HYDERABAD.

    THE FIGHTS:

The first ID to have been created on lifeatgitamhyd.com,was mine as the tradition demands,it is admin@lifeatgitamhyd.com

Now,I am not gonna shift the inbox ,where the contributions keep trickling in,ala,lifeatgitamhyd@gmail.com,cause I have some kinda of emotional attachment to it.

But,Yeah,I am gonna be using this Admin Id,for the managerial stuff related to this Blog,I will keep it aside to deal with the controversies, that we seem getting into way to often.

Please, keep the inbox of this Blog at lifeatgitamhyd@gmail.com,free from vulgarity and abusive content, hate mails and stuff like that can be mailed to me at admin@lifeatgitamhyd.com,And we can have a fight there..

    THE NEW TAGLINE:

The new tag line,I assume was making up some kinda of a rustle on campus,GITAM UNIVERSITY HYDERABAD,which was restricted to  heated arguments over the Blog, and stuff,And not everyone liked the previous tag line “The apparent pride of GITAM hyd”,But we are over with it now,and have unveiled over new tag line which goes,

    “The Overseer”(Of GITAM UNIVERSITY HYDERABAD)

And,the tag line is self explanatory..:P

    THE SUPPORT TEAM:

A new support team will be in place in a matter of 45 days or so,and the preliminary paper work is still on,I cant just start giving out Id’s to all the people on campus,My resources are still restricted, I can only  have 50 odd Id’s like name@lifeatgitam.com, And I don’t want to waste them.

The new support team, will be backed by a good chain of contributors and it will be dealing in sorting out the data into the required channels, and it will play a major role in the contributions system, next academic year when the  juniors come into the campus of GITAM UNIVERSITY HYDERABAD.

The support team will be functional(and the members mostly anonymous ) by that time, and we would love to welcome and serve the juniors, effectively too..:)

    THE CRASH:

My PC under went a major crash yesterday,my hard disk  is currently slate clean, and I have lost all the valuable  material in my PC,not to mention the loads of posts which were to be published once the transformation is complete.

So at this point,I express my inability to publish the post,But,I do posses the ability to get back my resources and re-built all those posts, but it requires, greater commitment from my side to GITAM UNIVERSITY HYDERABAD,and I believe I have all it takes to get the post mill rolling once again..

So cheers to the actual rise of the New Dawn, the Overseer has arrived..

Welcome one and everyone to the new avatar of this Blog,

We are have to have you hear, and we are determined to stay, and we will survive all the hardship, the 3rd semester will be bringing in..

And thanks a lot to everyone who made this change possible, and thanks to the critics, who actually served as the “Flash of genius  ” :P

    Regards,

    lifeatgitamhyd

Note:During the course of reading this post, you might have wondered why I had to emphasise GITAM UNIVERSITY HYDERABAD CAMPUS,when a simple pronoun or just “the campus”,would have sufficed, the reason is this is the first full fledged post, and I want all those SEO to work right up to my new custom domain.

    The Lab Queen Is Back!!!!....DAY:01/04/2010

It was supposed to have happened the Next sem, ala, the 3rd semester.Sri Vani maam(Oh,right you read it right, and those who have claimed to have met her aren't dreaming..!)

Its true, that she has bounced back, and this reality hit the It batch hard in the face early in the morning,They were mentally prepared to face the heat from Balaji sir,who would have been the only faculty member supervising the External,But they simply had no indication that they would have to face Sri Vani maam.

Anyways, apparently it wasn't so bad having to face her,I bet ECE/IT would disagree with me over this statement,Cause they were the only once who had to face her, EEE got a taste of her apparent wrath last semester in the form the disastrous Phy lab experiences(In some cases only, there are always exception),But then again things change with time...

    THE LAB EXPERINCE:

Both, the Batch I of IT and Batch II of CSE,came out pretty happy from the phy lab having been prepared for the worst, what with the lab internals being held under total, wait a sec..yeah the word "bandobust" slots in well with the sentence...

Right,The lab internals were held under extremely vigilant and the students were forced through the stringent of rules, never heard of either in the campus of GITAM UNIVERSITY HYDERBAD,nor else where..:P 4 invigilators,2 security cards, for a batch of 30 ppl,Now what can be worst than such an arrangement for a mere Internal ??

And then, you cant blame the students for being terrified to enter the lab for the Externals,it had to be the BAAP of the internal,But the things didn't span out in the way the students expected them too..

Au  contraire, they had an awesome experience in the lab atleast most of them felt that way after coming out of the lab, expecting the Internal kinda of atmosphere and having a little relaxed kind of lab session,it went on very smoothly, except the Ban Gap apparatus, which had some kind of trouble with this..

This apart,For those who take the external in the next couple of days to follow, rest assured,be cool as a cucumber and you will make it through, and Attitude isn't definitely everything, you show some kinda of attitude to either of the external,if implies that you are gonna be totally Screwed Up!

    THE NEW CUTE KID:

There was a new kid on campus,The small Cute baby of Sri Vani maam was on campus today at around 3:30 odd or so, a Car pulled through the main gate, carrying the cute little girl..!

Every other faculty member, got to check this new kid out,and she did cry a couple of times,on campus..

A person who saw this child upfront, just dropped a one line email to me it read Sri vani maam's baby was on campus.."Exponentially Cute!!"

And I don't cease to agree with the general reaction,a new born baby is obviously cute...!!

And I was just wondering if Sri Vani maam, heard about this Blog,I am pretty confident she has been briefed about what has been going on campus,Since her long break,And obviously this blog must have popped up at some point of time or another,if it Didn't I am disappointed, if it did,A simple message to you maam,Happy to Have you back..!

And I would feel privileged,if you can lend me a pic of your new born girl...it would be lovely to host..:)

    OOPS!!!

Oh No,I didn't forget to give a review of the OOPS session,

ECE and It had it in the evening session, and CSE and It in the morning session.

other batches be forewarned the programs are not entirely restricted to the Syllabus book(Apparently).

ECE had a cake walk through the lab session, with some people even performing the Virtual Destructors program to perfection,While most of the CSE and IT folks have hardly heard of that particular concept..!!

EEE was an exception,as always coming out with mixed reviews about the labs.

The partitions, put in place for GAT 2010 are still in place, that kinda of makes it hard to communicate.

The old files have all been promptly deleted, and the password for the new user is "buser".

    CHEMISTRY:

Awesome, experience, the lab was held in a very cool atmosphere and it was more like a normal,Lab session, nothing so hard ,the Viva was a little fiasco.

But alls well that ends well, its been a hard time for some particular students in ECE to deal with Chemistry and they are finally entitled to the freedom they have deserved..!

    E/E WORKSHOP:

ECE people were on a roll in this lab to,after a shocking performance in the OOPS lab, they came out bright bright in the E/E workshop too..!!
Last Sem,CRO was the dreaded Experiment, but for the students who got the CRO experiment today it was Childs play,The magical section of ECE mostly steered clear of trouble in the E/E Workshop,But the EEE,the namesake of the E/E workshop, had more trouble during the lab than they could have possibly have imagined, the consequences of having taken the Lab for granted resulted in a bitter experience for some students of EEE,Batch II.

But,Bindu Priya maam, being as courteous as ever, decided to let them go..

    AUTO-CAD LAB:

The most fun filled lab of this sem,Chemistry and E/E follow this Lab for being the most vibrant labs.

Headed by a popular sir,Babu Rao ,the renowned planer of the Industrial trips and the brain child of the coming soon Industrial tour(In 2nd year,2 weeks),this Lab scores brownie points for his great persona(In spite of being pretty short..:P)

The illustrious Auto-Cad Lab comes to an end in  a couple of days.

As for the review session of this Lab,no hardships just do some basic preparation.

    A Personal Message 4200 Hits.

Note:Emotional post follows,A co-owner/Author,Mentor what not, leaves Us...

    THE NEXT BIG THING!!!

It does seem that, way there are loads of blogs out there trying to focus on GITAM UNIVERSITY in particular(vizag to be specific),but most of them can be tagged off as pure junk some are listed below, there aren't even worth to carry the Blog tag around them..!

Most of them are just a waste of a good domain Name, like these down here(isn't the exhaustive list, but these are the best of the worst,at least they are empty to an extent..:P)

But,yes like every other story in this world, this has  got a little twist with the "But",there are some good ones which are worth a look, but according to me,no other blog apparently exists(as of now) either on GITAM HYDERABAD nor on GITAM Vizag, which can match this blog in terms of frequency of posting or accountability..:)(Neither the controversies),there are some good blogs down here which are a little active,

    THERE IS A NEW FISH:

    Yep..!!

Finally something to compete with,GITAM UNVISERSITY Hyderabad tried to compete with this Blog in the form of ,

but their futile attempts failed in desperation(I keep telling you,My contributions  network is awesome!,as its bulit with trust;I made one mistake,Trusted that guy Daya Kalyan, and he doped us,the Damage he did to this Blog is irrevocable at least for a couple of weeks more, till I do some damage control, and arrest those rumours he started off with respect to who owns this Blog,I have always been frank about the Ownership,And Some day,My dear readers, you will see the light of the truth,Yet it means, giving out my Public profile,And I might actually Have to do that,If nothing works..!)

And based on the same Model of operations,a new Blog is born, with a Girl heading it(I have nothing against a girl heading it..!),And An ex-author of this Blog,is busy promoting the new blog in town.

    KRISHNA:

    *Bows Down*

I ought to thank this guy Krishna(Co-owner),from the Vizag campus, who proved very helpful ,in setting up this Blog, who actually made this Blog possible, and He is desperate to try it out in the main campus,I told him plainly it wouldn't work..:P

More about this Guy,this guy has moved over and is currently working from his  friends new Blog(The girl ,remains anonymous, and the Blog is still busy getting a skeleton ) , http://www.newsatgitam.blogspot.com/

He is going to be a co-author of it,and support that Blog in a Big way,

    THE ASSOCIATION:

Krishna has been associated with this Blog(lifeatgitamhyd) since the start, that would be December 04th,When this Idea took birth,He was forced to reveal himself during the Kalyan crisis(As I fondly call that Mishap..:P)http://lifeatgitamhyd.blogspot.com/2010/03/what-in-world-was-that-and.html

And he Often tells me he is proud to be associated with this Blog,I can't reveal his identity totally,I doesn't want to, cause the GITAM Hyd management can get to him in a jiffy IF I reveal either his Public profile on Face book Or Give out his last name.

Trust me the management feels the punch of this Blogs existence,so do others who don't like this Blog, and they would do anything to get to him.

But He is safe, and happy Blogging.

I owe plenty of Good posts to Krishna, who refuses to take credit for them,But He deservers a Huge round of applause and a great big HUG!!!

    THREE CHEERS!!

And he also deserves another Huge round of applause for having saved the existence of this Blog from the brink of a crisis,When the contributors were being rounded up,Krishna   promptly stepped in to save the contributors arse by reestablishment the fact that this Blog isn't owned by any one from GITAM UNIVERSITY HYDERBAD CAMPUS.

Get in touch with the people, who apparently spoke to him to clear the brume about kalyan's role in bringing this Blog down, and they will promptly tell you that Krishna does exist, and is From the Vizag campus, and He does have a mobile which has been active for quite some years and he has a voice too(If that makes matters clear for you..),all this only to prove that you express some kinda of gratitude to him,Like I do,For some seriously beautiful posts and promoting this Blog big time, helping at every stage,I am just trying to make it clear that,he isn't a fictitious character created out of thin air to serve the purpose of this Blog.

    THANK YOU

(@Krishna,I know how you hate this Colour..:P)

A heartfelt thanks to you,And I would love to contribute constructively to your new blog,And I am a man of my word,I told you I wouldn't let you go,without a vote of thanks, My eyes are filled up now, even when I know that, you won't entirely kill your association with this Blog..

    THANKS A LOT BUDDY..!!

For everything you did to this Blog, and thanks a lot for making this Blog possible,I owe it all to you..!

Readers,Now you know what actually goes into putting up great Blogs post,I believe ?

It takes people like this to make free journalism possible..!

Adios,Long time author of this Blog,I am terribly gonna miss those late night chats, when we used to discuss the unending consequences , a particular post might produce on campus,Which none of us have seen in Flesh..

So I put an end to this Blog post, with a favourite catch line we ppl used to keep repeating every other night on Gtalk,

    "it feels Weird"

Explanation:We used to use this Line so damn very often,It obviously felt weird working on this Blog, One guy from Vizag the other from Bengaluru, working on a Blog which revolves around a dumb college based in Hyderabad,All for the sake of one darn thing called friendship.

I am being forced to end this post here,Else words would never fail me,the only thing I am scared of doing right now is wetting my keyboard,lol..

    To Krishna:

I think, this post doesn't mean much to my readers,as they have no clue over what goes into or rather went into this Blog,But I do,Hence I know the importance and pain of seeing you leave,This hardly has anything to do with the GITAM UNIVERSITY HYDERBAD CAMPUS.

But  I made this post, especially for you,You know where to reach me..!

That my dear readers is the love I have towards one long lasting friend(In working on this Blog,we have become some seriously good pals..),Who wont be active for a couple of months..

    Regards,

    Prajeeth

p.s.Krishna still remains a good pal,But we wont work together on this blog at least for a couple of months,he is busy on His project work,Not working on this Blog, together makes me disheartened ..!

Chemistry Called off, thanks to Bharat Bandh in Rudraram..:)....DAY:27/04/2010

Its been waiting to happen,But no one seriously expected it to take place,The news about the Bharat bandh was on for close to a week or so,right before the exams started,But most of the students didn't pay any heed to it,Except a small minority,Who were beating against all odds for the bandh to take place today..

    BHARATH BANDH:

A minute fraction of the close to 300 odd Institutes, remained shut in the City today and GITAM UNIVERSITY,HYDERABAD CAMPUS ,Was one such institute.

It didn't have to do with the Bharat bandh,as most of the other institutes were functioning as usual,But why then did the management had to call of the Chemistry Exam today ?

The cause lies, with the core of this campus being associated with GITAM UNIVERSITY Vishakhapatnam.

As its common knowledge, that GITAM UNIVERSITY  pledges its allegiances to the TDP(Telugu Desam Party),And its top brass ala,M.V.V.S Murthy was an ex Mp and he recently contested(and was Defeated) the polls on a TDP ticket,so the managements' association with the TDP goes beyond  the funds pumped into this institute and the political clout this institute enjoys due to its association with the TDP ,makes it feel the ire of TDP's political opponents,Another case of education being inseparable from politics.

The TDP was hand in gloves with the CPI,CPI(M) parties in the state, and Hence had to oblige and participate in the Bharat Bandh called by the left parties, and 13 other(I think),non-congress,non-BJP parties in response to corruption, price rise etc .

    BACK HOME:

It was apparently Sampath Sir who did the honours, and informed the students about the holiday, the official reason hasn't been declared,But we do know that the exam in the GITAM UNIVERSIRTY Hyderabad campus was called off due to the band, and plenty are not pleased at it,they wanted to be done once and for all with all these dumb exams..

Had it been announced the previous day or at least early in the morning,it would have been different,But the news reached the students(and consequently this Blog),when most of the buses(3 to be specific) crossed BHEL,and another bus the ECIL was outside BHEL.

But,this holiday surely didn't come in handy most of them couldn't and wouldn't have made any productive use out of this holiday...Well  have to face the wrath of the price rise and corruption at the end of the day...

MATH III and Samosas:Curse You paper setter!....DAY:24/04/2010

    Curse you!!!

    WTF..!!!

    Argh..!!!

What in the world was that..

All the above expressions, were running through the students when they caught the first glimpse of the MATH III paper today..

    MATH III:DISASTER

it was in the pipeline like the hostels, and Kibbutz'10 Coverage/Scoop's on this Blog, but heck unlike both of them the math paper exploded and created a havoc on campus today..

it was dumb ,it was pathetic, what with even Vijay Shekar sir openly admitting that most of the students are goona fail today..

The situation was all tensed, everyone(In general) wanted only one thing to PASS..!!

Coming clean was the only driving force today and for most of them it still remains a distant hope..

Admitted that the paper is done with,The Nightmare has finally passed, but the consequences will follow,Not immediately but they will have to come in the form of Results, most of the students life will be shattered by this paper until and unless the ...

Management decides to step in and intervene and give some grace marks for the students to clear the exam, passing those who get above 20 marks will be a good deed,Considering the tight schedule, the students have been put through a very tough ordeal ,and the obvious difficulty of the subject itself,it will come in very handy...!!

Most of the students, the moment they came out of the class rooms were breathing fire, like dragons,if you like the analogous,And the harsh weather, made life even more difficult,Oaky, the Central Air-conditioning system was Switched on,A minute saving grace,Thanks for it..:P

Taking into due consideration, the only safe path the management can follow, due to its own mistakes and some which were not due to it,Come on I can't blame the management for the Telangana Agitation, but I can blame the management for speeding up the exams..

Not having a one day gap, between the previous and this exam made matters even graver for the students,We ought to get a day off..!

    SAMOSA:

Time for some light moments of the days, yesterday it was the banana, and the nutritious obsession of the management which was at a high yesterday,as high as a banana tree (Which isn't all that high..:P),Seems to have worn off..

The banana's were duly replaced by Oily Samosas,Which are obviously pretty low on the nutritious content...

Some of the  faculty members were  reluctant to have it,Well they were samosas, not everyone favourite, and definitely palpable, that they(The faculty)wouldn't have consumed ,that to due to the hot weather and all,and the timing was impeachable too..11' o clock..:D

    THE DELAY:

The classroom in the first floor received the paper a little late,so they were granted an extension of 10 mins, upto 12:40,the Library was a crowded area with every student wanting a photocopy of some phy material or the other, the buses were hence delayed too, especially the ECIL and the Narayanaguda buses to be specific, were over delayed due to the Vinay troubles,One due to the bag and the other Vinay no Idea what he forgot, you see the problem with contributors is that, they sometime don't give the total info..!!

My dear observers, please enlighten me on these little details hopefully,by tomorrow we will know what the other Vinay forgot..:)

    THE DEED:

All those who are following us on our SMS Channel,

    http://labs.google.co.in/smschannels/subscribe/lifeatgitamhyd

Click on the above link to follow it,(p.s.Aren't able to hyperlink via my Post editor something isn't right!),Will know that message about THE DEED,to be done tonight, but due to some circumstance and unforeseen events it had to be put off, touted to be the biggest and probably the best move this blog has ever made,I don't wanna rush this change in the Blog through,Most of my top contributors and good followers know ,that this was waiting to happen..

And it will,If I manage to wriggle out some issues, which popped up in the last 12hrs or so...

So keep a look on the Blog guys, its either tonight or on 28t..

    It will surely happen..

The wait of the new dawn..will finally end..:)

    Bananas Day Out!!....DAY:23/04/10

Lets, start off with a little update on the Blog and move into the "Banana Day...".

    CHANGES:

The Blog, has been simplified extremely,in order to reduce its load time and also free it from the clumsy navbar, there are just a few important Links, are provided in the nav bar,Results,Admission are none of the Blogs concern, and there is some where else you can find it, www.gitam.edu... Changes

    blog_previous_thumb1

Hope you like the new simplified look.

    BANANAS:

As has been the practice,in every institute, college,School, and where not..During the exams,it often seen the invigilators being treated to a couple of cups of tea and other eatable..

But,GITAM UNIVERSITY  Hyderabad campus,(highlighting this due to obvious reasons :P),is probably the only University which provides their invigilators with,Hold your breath..!!
    BANANAS!!

    Rightoo!!

Bang on target, biscuits, tea are so par se that, the management has decided to bring a loads of bananas and distribute them to the invigilators, nutritious food for one and all is the apparent motto..:)

But,wait I aren't saying it is dumb to give bananas,Accepted it is pretty weird,But it is actually good for you health especially during the summer..

Now who is the health conscious person who ordered these bananas ??

Finding the answer for that one would be a wild goose chase..

For more info about bananas, and their health implication,Click Here.

    MATH II:

Matrices, was the saving grace for many students, and those stuck up with the strict invigilators ,came out of their respective examination halls cursing..!!
But those who were lucky, were all SMILES..:)

The paper wasn't all that tough except Chapter three which deals with partial differential equations..(Darn it!!)

Nevertheless, another paper goes by,and tomorrow is going to be a students night mare..

    MATH THREE..

Vijay Shekar sir,all warned the students "The subject with low pass percentage"..Everyone wants to break the jinx and clear it desperately..

Now it remains to see how many will actually do it..

With that I am out of here..

All the best for your worse nightmare,MATH III...

    Regards,

    lifeatgitamhyd

    Update:
This post was prepared during the first academic year(2009-,April,2010),and the recent updates are not taken into consideration.
We will post the latest campus update, once the campus construction is completed .

The Campus, spread over 10 acres of land and soon to be expanded over to 45 acres(Claimed),currently consist of one main building,A workshop,A canteen, two volleyball courts While the following are under construction as of now,

    • New Workshop
    • New canteen structure
    • Hostels

Check our SCOOP!! section for more details of the above mentioned structures!

    MAIN BUILIDNG:

    Main bulidng(Old pic)

The main building consist of 3 floors,a cellar and three new floors which are currently under construction.

    New pic

The cellar consist of the library,The AutoCAD lab,Computer lab,Eng lab(each with 66 pc's),and a Digital Library with around the clock internet facility (Facebook,Orkut,BlogSpot and WordPress is blocked too!!)

    C LAB

    THE LIBRARY:

    DSC01136

    THE READING ROOM:

    DSC01133

The Reading room right adjacent to the library is open for access all through the day.Do observe the use of plastics chairs,we seriously deserve decent swivels for the fees we are paying.

    THE CONFERENCE HALL:

    .COMING SOON.

    THE GROUND FLOOR:

The ground floor consists of only four classrooms, and is mainly an administrative floor, with the Staff rooms,HOD's rooms,Accounts section,Directors office, and other dumb heads, ala top brass of the management are present in this floor, along with the Four classrooms currently occupied by the B.tech stream.

    *to be updated *

    THE FIRST FLOOR:

    DSC01108

The first floor, ala, the MBA floor,in the campus lingo,is just that, there are boards which read "Boys waiting hall", "Girls waiting hall",e.t,c but behind these closed doors are just empty rooms, which we have long lost access to,Its a worthless cheap trip by the management, the  same case with the Doctors room.

    DSC01106

But a point worth to mention is that the washrooms in this floor happen to be the students favourite, usually some break away groups from B.tech can be seen utilizing these wash rooms too..:P

    DSC01103

    THE INDOOR GAMES ROOM:

Carom boards, and TT tables, that is all we have in this room, situated in the Second floor, the sports room is seriously under, rather unequipped to even cater to the current strength of 200+ students

    THE MBA CLASSROOM:

The Best place to have been in,that the tag this room carries, the epic centre of Kibbutz'10,and the thinking room from where all the good creative ideas emerged from ,it is in this four walled room that most of the important decision with respect to Kibbutz'10 have been taken,,thought the last word and the final decision prior to the weeks leading upto the fest took place in Satish bhiayya's cabin,But with Kibbutz'10 closing up onto us,this was the place where the last minute preparations, major hurdles were all cleared from..

The worth place,The place loved by most of the B.tech students too, mostly cause they are immune to the B.tech faculty, particular some members of the faculty :)

    WORKSHOP:

    DSC01097

The workshop, forms an integral part of any B.tech persons life,be it for a person part of gitam or not,at some point of time a person pursuing B.tech has to enter the Workshop, more so in the first year, and GITAM University Hyderabad is no different..

The Workshop comprises of various labs, which are :

    • Chemistry Lab
    • E/E Workshop
    • Phy lab
    • Instruments Room
    • A couple of empty rooms

    CHEMISTRY LAB:

    PHYSICS LAB:

The place,we have all been in,and most of us are happy to be done visiting this place, except those unlucky few who have to go back for their Externals.

The Phy lab, modestly adequate infrastructure and it is headed by the current first year coordinator,Dr.Balaji Rao,touted by the students to be a haunted place,I prefer not to write anything more about it,after all Phy has never been a favourite of mine :)

That kinda of sums up the workshop!

    SPORTS/GROUNDS:

    Common ground/Cricket

And now,we move forward into the Sports arena, neither are there any good sports facilities nor do we posses any kinda of a P.T forget about coaches,Neither do we have decent sport equipment available,The campus looks pretty decent for one which just admitted its current batch,But sports are seriously under looked, and they lie in a ruin,With the equipment we currently have it can't even sport the active participation of 50 odd members at a time forget about 200 members.

    • Volleyballs
    • Throw balls
    • Cricket equipment
    • Chess
    • T.T(Two tables)

And that kind of ends the list, its an exhaustive one,and if you are wondering where did the Footballs go to,Them trust me we have nothing of that sort on campus,We do have some kinda of minor support for it but,the management has decided to push in the funds for cricket(Apparently),and once again,The Beautiful sport has been ignored, and left to lie in ruins.

A very disappointing thing, and I hope the management pulls up its socks soon!

But,the prospects don't look that bleak,if the management does stick to its word, then a couple of basketball courts will be up and about by the start of the next academic year,Read our Scoop!! on the basketball courts,By clicking here.http://lifeatgitamhyd.blogspot.com/2010/02/scoop-basket-ball-courts.html

    CANTEEN:

    SECURITY:

    The Security room

The  day  invariably starts and ends here,The GATE,its where we come in and go out from(Most of the time given that students have known to bunk via the Windows and run into the fields, via the Construction Zone)it did happen before and its bound to happen before, and we all know that a closed gate isn't a barrier :)

The security present is quite a good one,and pretty efficient at their Job,They are polite and extremely sweet, and definitely not helpful if you wanna bunk,They do the job well and we all love them...
