SCOOP!!:GITAM University gets Wi-Fi!!

And here we are ,in a list of SCOOP!!’s being published every couple of days,till the juniors,arrive,we are going to roll out a great deal of SCOOP!! ,though the dates we project may vary from the actual dates.

DETAILS:

Expected by :  last week of July,2010.

Status           : pending launch.

Deadlock      : More access points to be set up.

INTRODUCTION:

The campus of GITAM University (Hyd) is finally set to get Wi –Fi access all across the 10 acre campus.

This will be followed and preceded by various other developments on campus with respect to the campus infrastructure.

The Wi-Fi debate is one such which refuses to die down , since most of the first batch students were told,(Even thought the management claims otherwise)that the Hyderabad campus of GITAM University is Wi-Fi enabled(During the academic year 2009-2010),but never was it activated,except for the MBA Floor.

And during quite some students interactions session with the Director,the issues of Wi-Fi was always in the waiting list.

And this year too,the brochure of GITAM University Hyderabad claims to have a Wi-Fi enabled campus.

We at LAGH(lifeatgitamhyd) ,were supposed to be publishing posts under a separate header called as “Myth Busters”,dispelling the claims of the management in the brochure,but we held back the posts from being published,Since we wanted to tread the cautious path of wait and watch,The blog is currently at its peak status and any wrong move will bring the fame and credibility of the blog crashing down,and we are now pleased we never published the article :P.

STATUS:

The Access points have always been there,but a pity the management didn't feel any apparent obligation  to do justice to the heavy fees paid by the 09-10 batch(1,08,500 INR),and with a strength of 200 odd students,with the management safety hiding behind “New Born baby ”tag,the students proved to be helpless to get the Wi-Fi activated.

The game has finally moved on,the fees has increased to Rs. 1.25 lakh,and the next batch of students are numbered close to 1000 odd ,with the campus total coming to 1200(approx.)

It is but logical to assume that the management can’t get away with the ” new born baby “ trick,and have finally decided to clear the funds to get the Wi-Fi access up and about.

CONSEQUENCES:

Facebook,and other social networking sites,and probably this blog too will not be accessible from the Wi-Fi servers.

This will be quite a concern,if drastic changes to the servers are not made,the Wi-Fi will hardly add to the snob value of the Hyderabad campus.

 COMPLETION:

Good old, inside sources,hint that the Wi-Fi will be enabled within 15-20 days , it will be launched simultaneously at the hostels and the campus (of GITAM university Hyderabad).

We reckon that since we are dealing with the local management of GITAM University,the process might take a littler longer than the expected 3rd week of July,2010,and the actual launch will take place somewhere close to the last week on July or the early days of August,2010.

CONCLUSION:

The servers are here,the fund have been realised,the management is determined not to get into a mess with the juniors,all this point only one way forward,a bright future for the campus of Hyderabad,as we have always been saying that in a couple of years ,the campus will end up getting even better(Consequently the Blog too :))

SCOOP!!-Subway

 Expected    :  August,2010

Status          : Planned.

INTRODUCTION:

  The Subway, this was  one of the most confusing development of the Hyderabad campus,no one was willing to confirm the arrival of the Subway restaurant on campus,nor  denying it .

All we knew was that the director,during one of his “interaction” sessions,told something about a Subway coming on campus,the next academic year(2010 -2011),but no one was willing to take the bait, since most of the things which were promised during that particular interaction session,never materialized.

And the news of the Subway laid burried ,occasionally featuring on the Blog.

But,now it is back,We at the Blog have also been hinting at the strong arrival of the Subway ,and now we can assure you,If the things span out the way they have to,then the Subway will be here,during this academic year itself :)

FIRST PICTURES:

This is where the (planned)Subway will be housed,after this place under goes extensive renovation.

The Location:

The subway,is apparently going to be located next to the old canteen,and adjacent to the Stores room.

Yes,it might look small,but the catch is that the current Subway will be operated on a trial run,and if it is successful then they will be moving into a full fledged premises,with dimensions similar to the Subway located in the IT  bhavan of GITAM University,Vizag.

FULL FLEDGED :

if the response to the Subway is good,then the management,will consider expanding the Subway ,to match the demand,and if the response is lukewarm then the Subway will remain at its current place,and in case of no response to the Subway(highly unlikely!),then they will shut shop :P

CONSEQUENCES:

Definitely not another place to bunk ,since the management of GITAM University Hyderabad,is gearing up to be extra strict with respect to the timings of the Subway,to keep the bunkers at bay.

FLAUNT:

And now,the Hyderabadi gitamites,have something to flaunt around,the only college in the city to house a Subway

PRICE LIST:

The prices of the Subway products will remain on par with the pan-India menu,and No,the management won’t be subsiding the prices :P

MENU:

The menu will be the standard pan-India menu,minus some slow moving products,and some high end products,but expect the regular selling products,thought the plan is to introduce all the items of the standard menu slowly,with the demand,initially only the popular products will be sold.

CONCLUSION:

Surely,not another place to bunk,and Subway’s are usually a little rough on the pocket,but with students  spending close to 1.25 lakh per annum,it wont be that hard either :P

The future of GITAM university,Hyderabad looks bright at the moment .

Not many will prefer the Subway,but surely most of the Hyderabadi gitamites will go over the top and flaunt the Subway like hell,they have something ultra respectable to crow about now :)

So get ready to have some awesome nutritious food :D.

Rumour Mill : Extension(of holidays) for Seniors on cards ?

Note: Rumour Mill is a fictitious creation and shouldn't be confused with the SCOOP!! (articles),which are based on some strong factual inputs from various trustworthy sources,While Rumour Mill articles on the other hand are definitely not.
INTRODUCTION:
Rumour,the word it self directly spell speculation,and loads of trouble since rumours leave you confused and in a state of hysteria you can’t decide if you need to celebrate(if the rumour is true),or be disheartened(If the rumour turns out to be false :)).
Rumours,also form an essential part of every other growing community be it a workplace or an educational institute,we have all grown up with plenty of rumours,most of the remained as rumours,and very few come true.
Name any educational institute,and rumours will invariably be a part of it,GITAM University Hyderabad is no different,and rumours are as much an integral part of the peers on campus,like ”political feuds” among the faculty(this holds true globally,We believe :P)
The Rumour Mill :
We have decide to launch another category,which is the Rumour Mill to cover all those rumours which keep circulating around the students,and in general die out after a certain period of time,many such great rumours sand buried,however,we are not here to only unearth the past “glorious” rumours,but to focus on the rumours,which are currently being circulated,and then give a verdict,ala a prediction of whether the Rumour holds any ground,or will be buried within no time.
Some rumours,out live their life,others die a pre mature death,and are only remembered if the rumour comes true.
We finally introduce,a Rumour Mill category to the existing categories of the blog,which are :

• Blog lashing
• SCOOP!!

And please remember,whatever we might claim in here,are all but rumours,and will essentially remain so,and you better get the various meaning(s) of “RUMOUR”(Wiki It!,or Google it!) right before you read further.
FIFA 2010 :
Every other person ,is currently glued onto the idiot box,and getting his/her share of the world cup action every night,and the best example,would be the blog itself!
Yes,everyone watches the World Cup 2010 matches ,all through the night,and sleep through the better part of the day,and when they do wake up(Ahh..!! At last!) they end up catching up on FIFA “gossip”(or Should it be “rumours” ? :P)and obviously everything else takes a back seat during the World Cup season,including the Blog(Personally,I have been busy in a similar fashion too :P)
yes it probably doesn't make sense,to pull up the World Cup out of no where ,But there is a subtle reason(a strong one if you please),for pulling up the World Cup!
The World cup is essentially where our current rumour(the extension of holidays) starts and ends.
RUMOUR:
Well,the rumours have it that the college will be reopening on the 5th of July(For the seniors),and no one can be blamed to expect this to happen,since the reopening date has officially been postponing from,

• 21st,June,2010.
• 23rd,June,2010.
• 30th,June,2010.
• 1st,July,2010.

And the current state of construction on campus,has been moving at a snails space,with all the focus shifting to get the Block A of the boys hostel and girls hostel functional to hand over the blocks to the GITAM University management,clearly since the construction company(presumed),which is dealing with the Boys hostel and the GITAM University Hyderabad campus construction being the same,the resources are being diverted to the boys hostel to get the buildings totally functional  prior to 30th June(the official hand over from the construction company to the GITAM university management takes place on 30th :sources),while you would normally expect the girls hostel to be better of there are not,they are lagging behind the actual schedule by a couple of days.
CAUSE:
The Hyderabad management,wants to the hostels to be ready for occupation,before the reopening day.
And that is one specific reasons,as to why the reopening date has shifted from 30th to 1st July,the hostels are expected to be handed over on the 30th,and hence the management of GITAM University can safely hand over the same for occupation.
That is not the only reasons thought,the other reason is that the electrical works are miles away from their completion dates,and some pics clicked during the GAT 2010 counselling follow(thanks to our new brigade of junior contributors :))


And quite a lot of seniors,have also been to the Campus pretty recently(with the college wanting the fees to be paid prior to the reopening date ,lame!),and they have seen the progress of the labs.
And most of them have come to the conclusion that either the management of GITAM University decides to postpone the date from the current 1st of July,or risk a repeat of all the events which followed in the First semester,2009,like labs being cancelled for a month for some reason or the other,at least last year by this time, some labs were functional(No at this the the computer lab wasn’t functional :P),and this year it is quite the opposite,the computer labs are all functional while the electrical labs are not(last year the computer labs were no existent ,but the electrical labs were functional :))
 
How did we forget the favourite lab of one and all ?

We will replace this particular image,as soon as we get a new replacement for it :)
Non one will be blamed to assume,that the college will opening on 1st of July,if the work doesn’t speed up on campus in the workshops.
PAINTING:
Well,the main building still has the look of a semi constructed building :

It doesn’t in no way look like it is ready for a strength of 1200 odd students!
THE BIRTH:
Yes,these all causes combined together,started off a rumour that the reopening day will be extended yet again,and the reasons which make this rumour even more popular are all listed above :)
Do we have a part in the birth of this rumour ?
partially yes,since we have been constant updates about the campus developments,and have also been hinting on our Facebook fan page about a probable extension :)
And after the phenomenal success of the GAT 2010 admissions queries,you cant blame anyone for taking the news/updates of the blog for granted,more often than not :)
Any sensible person,will come to the conclusion,that these are the particular reason for this now popular rumour.
THE DEATH:
A correction to the above line,Any sensible person who doesn't know how the management of GITAM University functions will come to the conclusion that the rumour is right,and the college wont open on the 1st of July.
But,others who have been in the campus for the last one year,and know the way the management functions,will be sure that come what may,the management will surely risk it,and start the classes for the seniors on the 1st of july,even if it has to take classes in a hazardous construction zone(Which lapses Fire Safety too :P !!)
And thus crumbles a rumour which holds perfect ground to convert itself into the truth,but the determination of the management to ruin its name further apparently looks to be pretty stronger,and it will take the plunge and open the college come what may on the 1st of July.
CONCLUSION:
Come what may,the seniors will have to give up on their FIFA hopes and travel all the way 60 odd Km to the college,to sit in the classes yet again,on the probably rusty old benches yet again :P
And those who snub the world cup and argue that,the matches are during the night,We have only one reasons “Yes they are,but when do you sleep ???”
Well,there is a solution,sleeping during the classes is favourite pass time of many,if the Rumour comes true,it will mean more time for FIFA,if it doesn’t come true,the seniors have got nothing to lose,except  that they wont gain anything either :P
Thus we bid adios to a popular(if it wasn’t popular first,Since we published this post it will get popular :D ) rumour,and hoping it comes true!
