Money matters

MONEY MATTERS!!??

DAY: 20/1/11
Boys Hostel

Battle lines were drawn in the hostel again.. This time for the sudden increase in the bill by Rs. 748. The earlier displayed bill was a bit less than the average of the previous months and the hostelers were very happy on seeing this.. Most of them saw this as an opportunity to get some unaccounted money from their parents. All the plans were shattered when on Thursday a new bill was put up with an increase by Rs. 748 under the heading contingency charges. WTF!!??

Hostelers were seen standing in front of the notice board and even swarming the office bombarding the poor accountant guy with queries and demands to see the statement for the month.. I personally went and checked the statement after getting permission from Pathrudu Sir (god bless that man). Well here is the deal.. Apparently the older bill had been made by omitting the charges for water, electricity, house keeping and mess workers' salaries.

WHO THE HELL MADE THE BILL...??? WAS HE DRUNK??

Then one fine day they realize that all these things have to be added.. So up the fees goes after adding the contingency charges and down the levels of contentment amongst the students..!

A few more points to be noted are:

  • The demand for the house keeping should be included in the 2000 bucks they take as "room rent". I mean they don't even open the rooms and clean them..!! Why the hell are they paid Rs. 90,000 (approximate) per month for it.
  • A student should be on leave for at least 5 days for the mess bill to be deducted. (This is okay). Here is the nonsense part: If a student goes on leave for 15 days then the mess bill will be cut for 15-3=12 days.. !! Now that is plain bullshit.. Why the hell do we have to pay for 3 extra days when we aren't staying and eating in the hostel. When asked for an explanation they say it is a "rule" follow it.. Yeah right.. Tomorrow you come up with a rule that go to the toiled once in 3 days.. and you expect us to follow that..?? :D
  • A student will not be charged only for the mess, when on leave. He will have to pay the rent, housekeeping, water, electricity etc. even then..!! Huh?

The demand for the members of the so called committee to be elected and not selected is still lying in the dust.. !!

God knows what they will come up in the upcoming days..

LAGH's reply:

Please go through the following pictures of the notices(to be uploaded tonight),the management has put up on the hostel notice board giving all the parameters, and the method of calculating the bill.
  • The excess of the ~800 rs has been due to a calculation error.
  • We accept with the authors view, that the 3 days rule is kind of absurd as pointed out(Leave for 10 days, they will deduct only for 7 days)
  • The third point is really Childish,be logical, they can cut the mess bill, but it is way to much to ask them to reduce the water bill, electricity bill for the days you are not present on campus, put a lil brain into it and you will end up seeing the light, this is how things will have to work,if you want your suggestions to be implemented.
Regards,
The LAGH team.

  2. Well as lagh has raised the point that 800 bucks increase is not due to a calculation error. The accountant himself told me that it was forgotten to be added.

Okay maybe the 3rd point is childish... But have the valid suggestions been implemented...? Take the makeup of the committee for example...'

  3. Correction:The change in the bill has been due to a calculation error.
