DAY:21/01/2011: To ma'am with love :)

DAY:21/01/2011:

What looked like a pleasant day,turned out to be more than that,lets get rolling right from the beginning.

The weather around the city(and the village :P),has been warmer than it was this season,we couldn't hazard a guess that we would hardly have any time to enjoy this weather.

Everyone was busy wondering why the weather has gone so nice,all of a sudden,little did we know that a political storm was overlooking the campus of gitam university,with the seniors,juniors,and the faculty aiming guns at each other,ready to fight for their equal rights in organizing or rather ripping the science fair apart :P.

JUNIORS:

Lets cover the fair and the large number of controversies as the way juniors see it,first the selection of the commitie was under the wraps for most part of it,and it was being spearheaded by a particular section of juniors,with the support of Madhrui ma'am,out of the 25 members,only 8 odd students were being dominant,and the rest of the voices were virtually unheard of,as the saying goes a "voice not heard,is a voice not spoken",well what happens when no one gives a f**k to what you are saying ?

You get pissed and start looking at other ways to pull the dominant asses down,and how do you do it ,when the the people responsible,are not willing to hear anything against their "gem" students ?
Well,take a pot luck and approach the seniors :)

Did it work ?

Initially it did work to an extent ,but it a pathetic situation going on right now,as the seniors were not officially informed of the Science Fest,every other senior,who had some kind of a political clout in the campus started pulling strings and reprimanding their juniors,since the seniors were kept in the dark about the fair/fest,they got re pissed and it was visible on their faces,after all how would we juniors feel if we were in their place ?

Cheated.

And then there were the others in the committee who were trying hard to make a make and rescue the fair/fest from the brinks of the abyss,but they have hardly been successful,at least they know that someone is listening to all their problems,and trying to make a difference.(We don't crib,We do!).

They we believe are the true members,who ought to be in the committee.

The way we see it,given the freedom, people in that 25 member committee can do marvels,not all but at least 50%,as some are our very classmates,and we know their potential.

Seniors:

Well,trouble trouble and trouble,the seniors were basically perturb due to the capricious behavior of the juniors,and rightly so,having hardly any scope to explore their bounds,and being nip in the bud,due to their initial strike(in the month of August we believe),except for many demands most of them have been lying in the dirt,still unsolved,for further details please visit the blog :reallifeatgitamhyd.blogspot.com,which covered those two days of protests made by the seniors.

Most of the junior faculty(those who joined work in the last 6 months),simply pushed away the fact that there were other beings present on the campus called "Seniors",who We must admit underwent a lot of hardships,and we juniors are not going to take away any due credit from them,we being the students of the second batch ,ourselves are under going psychologically hardships,given the facts that the campus is barely 2 yr s old,So keeping the egos aside for a while,we decided to close our eyes and imagine how the situation was exactly 1 yr ago,when the campus was new,new as in brand new.
We spoke to some seniors,to give us an idea as to how GITAM was initially and here are the quick facts:

• No proper transportation for first 6 months(private buses,which used to keep failing all the time)
• No labs for close to two months.
• No working canteen,(they used to buy food from a nearby mess in rudraram and get them to the campus)
• The second sem,for a month or so,there wasn't any canteen.
• The library was hardly sufficient.
• Construction work all around,and loads of disturbance(it used to be more like a construction area than an educational institution,the management lacked proper planning,says a senior).

Being in their shoes itself scares the shit out of us,imaging how they must be feeling,having been neglected entirely by the new faculty,gives quite some shivers.
And the course of the cursed set of events that followed are spreading like wildfire,for the record lets build a constructive timeline of the events:

Monday:

• The list of the organizing committee starts to take shape.
  

Tuesday:

• The list is approved by the director,but no reference has been made about the seniors.
  
• Some senior,we refuse to name him, "apparently" threatened ,madhuri ma'am that he would complain/report her to the director Blah Blah,if she doesn't involve seniors.
• Other seniors start,calling their juniors,asking them to explain their actions.

Wednesday:

• Things start moving,with the organizing committee putting the drafts for the financial support required.
• The initial ground work starts,and the rumored name is technytes.
• The banners/drop downs preparation,starts and cracks start appearing within the committee,with respect to the design and dimensions of the banners.

Thursday:

Things go dormant for a while,with respect to the seniors,but the cracks deepen in the organizing committee ,since everyone wants to be a leader,and become the undisputed head of the committee,since all are juniors,their egos come in the way and the path to the fair,is temporarily derailed,the fair/fest looks to be a distant dream.

The hostel gets a new bill today,and the juniors are mostly pissed ,with over 4700/-,monthly bill,more on this later.

Friday:

• This is when the things seem to be going extremely out of hands,with various juniors showing contempt,not anger towards each other in the committee,anger looks so tame in front of contempt,and once this started spreading,the initial so called squad,was infiltrated by the gods of emotion,no one can stand the bricking,nor can the feeling of contempt got over easily.
• Then came the bitchy part,people started bitching about each and everyone and everything whether it concerned them or not, the campus was on a bitching frenzy, bickering was the norm of the day.
• In the morning,apparently some other quarrel brewed up between the concerned faculty,and the seniors.
• The management then got a wind of the ongoing events,and a quick Seniors meeting was called at 3:45,ECE had a lab session,CSE had a free hour,so they were busy in the ground with sports,EEE had a lab,while the IT seniors took a day off,as they have to prepare for their Industrial tour,which begins tomorrow :).
• The meeting was apparently unsuccessful,as the concerned faculty,seemed to have vented all her anger on the few seniors who were present,this attitude actually pissed off the rest of the seniors,obviously,those present might not have been aware of the fair,and they need an explanation in that sense,they didn't want to be shouted at and reprimanded,they wanted answers but what,actually precipitated from the meet is that the faculty at least the one person concerned had a dig at the gathering,We quote "Venting off anger on us,barking at us isn't the key,We Need Answers !!"(unquote),complained a senior in rage..
• What will now follow still remains..

We are back,And LAGH will live on,Who ever thought we were shutting down,think again...
